Strong thunderstorms with damaging winds are possible in the Roanoke and Lynchburg areas today.

ABC 13 - WSET Chief Meteorologist George Flickinger gives us the breakdown:

Multiple batches of storms are expected to form. The first batch of storms is likely early Tuesday morning. Another cluster of storms can occur during afternoon/evening hours.

Any location in the ABC13 area could experience a strong storm on Tuesday and we'll probably see several Severe T-Storm Warnings.

A cluster of storms will move toward our area, or west of our region on Tuesday morning.

Other clusters would form during afternoon/evening hours.

Straightline/downburst wind = most common type of severe weather.

A few Tornado Warnings could also be issued, though Severe T-Storm Warnings will be much more common.

You could experience brief hail from these storms.

Check back with ABC 13 - WSET for updates as the morning storms will impact the timing and severity of PM storms.
