Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-Texas) issued a sharp response to President Donald Trump, who again labeled her as a "very low IQ person."
During Thursday's (September 25) appearance on MSNBC Live, Crockett addressed Trump's remarks and the recent indictment of former FBI director James Comey.
“I want the American people to know that when you stand up to a bully, you win,” Crockett said. “Do not back down. Do not bend… If everybody starts to bend, for sure, what is left of our democracy will be gone. And unfortunately, that is exactly what he wants.”
Earlier that day in the Oval Office, Trump veered off his prepared remarks while signing executive orders, using the moment to attack Crockett and question her intelligence.
“She’s a very low IQ person. I mean, if we ever had to pass an aptitude test, that’s the one [who] should take one,” Trump told reporters. “I can’t even believe she’s a congressperson.”
Trump also took aim at Rep. Ilhan Omar, saying he once joked with Somalia’s president about “taking her back.”
“Between her and Ilhan Omar... I met the head of Somalia. I suggested maybe he’d like to take her back. And he said, ‘I don’t want her,’” Trump said.
This isn't the first time the president has referred to Crockett as "low IQ."
In July, Trump challenged Crockett to an intelligence test to "see who comes out best." Trump also targeted Crockett while speaking about the state of the Democratic Party during an interview on NBC News' "Meet the Press" earlier this year.
“They have a new person named Crockett. I watched her speak the other day. She's definitely a low IQ person. And they said she's the future of the party,” he said at the time.
