A Georgia man has been arrested after allegedly starting a house fire that killed his ex-girlfriend.

According to PEOPLE, Stephanie Wiley, 48, died after her Dekalb County apartment was set on fire in the early morning hours of Monday (September 1). Another person, identified as Wiley's son, was also in the apartment at the time of the fire and survived after jumping out of the window.

Investigators determined that the fire was intentionally set. A man was reportedly caught on a neighbor's Ring Camera setting the home ablaze. In the video, a man in white clothing dropped something outside the unit before flames went up and he fled the scene.

"I could hear her screaming and howling for her life," a neighbor said.

Authorities found Wiley unresponsive and suffering from severe burns and smoke inhalation. Wiley was taken to the hospital, where she was later pronounced dead. Wiley's son reportedly suffered broken pelvis injuries after jumping out the window.

44-year-old Shawn Falls, Wiley's ex-boyfriend, was arrested during a traffic stop in connection with her killing and the fire. He's facing charges of murder, aggravated assault, and arson.

A GoFundMe campaign was set up to raise money for funeral expenses.

"She was the most beautiful loving big hearted person you will ever make sure off your back," the fundraiser reads in part. "if you need a place to stay she was there, if you just needed someone to talk to."
