Doechii has become just the third woman to win a Grammy award for Best Rap Album.
On Sunday (February 2), Doechii's Alligator Bites Never Heal won the award for Best Rap Album at the 2025 Grammys.
The rapper now joins a short list of just two other women, Lauryn Hill and Cardi B, who have taken home the trophy for Best Rap Album. Doechii beat out Best Rap nominees J. Cole and Eminem, and collab albums featuring Common and Pete Rock and Future and Metro Boomin.
During an emotional acceptance speech, Doechii acknowledged her predecessors Hill and Cardi, who presented the Grammy award to the fellow rapper.
"This category was introduced in 1989 and two women have won," Doechii said, before correcting herself.
"Three women have won," the Tampa native declared, "Lauryn Hill, Cardi B, and Doechii."
The rapper thanked God, her fans, her label, and her mom, who she brought onstage for her Grammys acceptance speech. Doechii also shared a special message to Black women watching the ceremony.
"You can do it. Anything is possible," the Grammy award winner said, "Don't allow anybody to project any stereotypes on you."
"You are exactly who you need to be, to be right where you are," Doechii concluded her acceptance speech," and I am a testimony."
