Researchers at the University of Oxford and the Karolinska Institute in Sweden have published the results of a study that found that people all over the world have the same opinions about some smells. Everyone in the test group thought that the odor of vanilla was pleasant, even when they differed on other smells.
The one smell that was the least popular among people all over the world was isovaleric acid, which is found in cheese, soy milk, apple juice, and foot sweat. Researchers think people all over the world like and dislike the same smells because of evolution.
