A survey conducted on behalf of Ancestry in March showed that 53% of Americans can’t name all four of their grandparents. Broken down by age groups, 53% between 26 and 41 couldn’t name all four, 61% between 42 and 57 couldn’t, and 30% of those between 58 and 76 weren’t able to name them.
The survey was done and released while the 1950 U.S. Census database was released, with Ancestry putting together a free searchable database of the data on their website. People can also search the records for themselves at 1950census.archives.gov.
